IFJ Condemns Israeli Security Attack on Palestinian Journalist at Border Crossing
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) today condemned the recent attack by Israeli security forces on Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer, who was detained for nearly four hours and beaten by Shin Bet agents after returning to the Gaza Strip from a journalism award ceremony in London.
"This is an unjustified attack on a colleague who had just been recognised by the international journalism community for his work," said IFJ President Jim Boumelha. "We are calling for a full investigation into Mohammed's case and an assurance that those responsible will be held accountable."
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), an IFJ affiliate, in a statement from Gaza said Omer was stripped, beaten and insulted when he returned to Gaza from a European tour after receiving the Martha Gellhorn Prize for Journalism. Omer, who was awarded the prize for his reporting for various foreign news organisations, was hospitalised after the attack and suffered broken ribs from the beating.
The IFJ joined the PJS in calling on the Israeli government to investigate this attack and others on Palestinian journalists.

There was absolutely no coverage of this incident in the U.S.A, as far as I can tell, and I scrolled down a long way on google. The Guardian covered it.
